Who are Motiv8?

Our dedicated team have helped transform the lives of 1000’s of people since 1978.

At Motiv8, our dedicated team of professional counsellors, support workers, and workers by experience have helped thousands of people live a life free from addiction.

Our specialist services include gambling, alcohol and drug use, families, and work for the criminal justice system.

To provide a service where individuals and families are supported and empowered to reduce the harm from alcohol, substance misuse, gambling and gaming.  We achieve this through early intervention, counselling, community services, education , research, treatment and rehabilitation.

The History of Motiv8

A story of hope for those who need it most.

Almost 50 years ago, our founders recognised the need for life-changing addiction support services on the Isle of Man. Today, we’re proud of our extensive offering that empowers both those entering or in recovery and their loved ones with the education and skills that they need to live happy, fulfilled and rewarding lives.

1978
Isle of Man Council on Alcoholism (the first name of the charity).
1991
Creation of the Alcohol Advisory Service (name change).
2004
The AAS young person’s service was created.
2011
The IOM Gambling Service was created.
2013
Creation of Motiv8 Addiction Services (name change).
2013
First SMART Recovery Group Work programme.
2016
Drug Aware, our Drug Service Branch formed.
2017
Family Service Branch created.
2024
Motiv8 rebrands and launches new website.

There is something for you at Motiv8. Worrying about a loved one impacted by addiction can cause a lot of stress and anxiety. Family members often don’t talk to others about the true extent of their worries, call us today we can listen, and we will help.

Alcohol Aware

Time to change your relationship with alcohol?

Motiv8 provides free, safe, confidential, and non-judgemental counselling and support services for anyone struggling with alcohol use. And because addiction impacts more than those addicted, this help is available to friends and family as well.

Young People

Our Young Person’s Service is known locally as YP@Motiv8.

Motiv8 offer a free, confidential and non-judgemental support service for young people who require help with their own or someone else’s alcohol, drug, gambling or gaming problems.

Drug Aware

Want to change your relationship with drugs?

Whether you want to stop using drugs, reduce your drug usage or help someone close to you who is fighting addiction, we want you to know that we can help.

Gambling Aware

Online gambling is a growing addiction risk.

In today’s world, the dangers of gambling are more present than ever. With the rise of online gambling, we’ve seen a definite spike in addiction, even more so than the one posed by traditional gambling establishments.
